JIT Labs (“JIT Labs,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) provides jit, a platform and related tools that enable users to create, share, deploy, host, and interact with software, websites, files, and AI-assisted workflows. This Privacy Policy (“Policy”) describes how we collect, use, disclose, and process personal data when you use our websites, hosted services, APIs, command-line tools, open-source software, integrations, and related services (collectively, the “Services”). By using our Services, you agree to this Policy.

1. Scope and Roles

When JIT Labs operates the hosted jit service, JIT Labs generally acts as the controller of account, billing, usage, and support data that we collect directly from users.

When you self-host jit or use the open-source software outside JIT Labs hosted infrastructure, JIT Labs is generally not the controller or processor of the end-user data processed within your self-hosted environment. You, or the entity operating that environment, are responsible for privacy disclosures, legal bases, security, retention, and responses to data-subject requests.

2. Personal Data We Collect

  • Account and profile data — name, username, email address, password hash or authentication metadata, organization details, avatar, and connected account identifiers.
  • Billing and transaction data — billing address, tax details, subscription status, invoices, and limited payment-related metadata provided by payment processors.
  • Content and service data — prompts, files, code, project metadata, deployment artifacts, logs, support submissions, and collaboration data that you choose to submit through the Services.
  • Technical and usage data — IP address, browser type, device identifiers, pages viewed, command usage, timestamps, error logs, approximate region, and telemetry needed to operate, secure, and improve the Services.
  • Communication data — emails, support requests, and other information you voluntarily provide to us.

3. Sources of Data

We collect personal data directly from you when you register, subscribe, upload content, deploy projects, contact support, or otherwise use the Services.

We collect certain data automatically through cookies, log files, software telemetry, and similar technologies when you interact with the Services.

We may receive data from third parties such as identity providers, payment processors, analytics providers, and integrations you choose to connect.

4. How We Use Personal Data

  • To provide, maintain, and secure the Services, including authentication, hosting, deployment, storage, abuse prevention, incident response, and customer support.
  • To process subscriptions, payments, renewals, refunds, invoices, and related account administration.
  • To analyze usage, troubleshoot issues, improve product quality, develop new features, and measure performance.
  • To communicate with you about service updates, legal notices, account activity, and support matters.
  • To comply with legal obligations, enforce our terms and policies, and protect the rights, safety, and security of users and JIT Labs.

5. Legal Bases for Processing

Where the GDPR, UK GDPR, or similar laws apply, we rely on one or more of the following legal bases: performance of a contract, legitimate interests, consent, and compliance with legal obligations.

If we rely on consent, you may withdraw that consent at any time, subject to lawful processing that occurred before withdrawal.

6. Cookies and Similar Technologies

We use strictly necessary cookies and similar technologies to authenticate users, maintain sessions, remember settings, support security controls, and provide core functionality.

We may also use analytics, performance, and preference technologies, and where required by law we will request your consent before using non-essential cookies.

You can usually control cookies through your browser settings, but disabling some technologies may affect the availability or functionality of the Services.

7. How We Share Personal Data

We may share personal data with service providers and subprocessors that help us operate the Services, such as cloud hosting, analytics, customer support, payment processing, security, and infrastructure vendors, subject to appropriate contractual protections.

We may disclose data to comply with law, regulation, legal process, or lawful governmental requests, and to protect rights, property, safety, or enforceable legal claims.

We may share data in connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, or sale of assets, subject to appropriate confidentiality and legal safeguards.

We do not sell your personal data, and we do not sell your code or content for advertising purposes.

8. AI and Customer Content

You retain your rights in the content you submit, subject to the rights needed for JIT Labs to operate and improve the Services consistent with this Policy and our terms.

Unless we clearly state otherwise and obtain any permissions required by law or contract, JIT Labs does not use your code or content to train third-party AI models on your behalf.

9. International Data Transfers

Your personal data may be processed in countries other than the country in which you reside. When applicable law requires safeguards for cross-border transfers, JIT Labs will use recognized mechanisms such as Standard Contractual Clauses, UK transfer addenda, adequacy decisions, or other lawful transfer tools.

10. Data Retention

We retain personal data only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this Policy, including to provide the Services, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce agreements.

For self-hosted deployments, retention settings and deletion workflows are controlled by the self-hosting operator, not by JIT Labs, unless JIT Labs separately provides managed services under a written agreement.

11. Security

We use reasonable and appropriate technical and organizational measures designed to protect personal data, including encryption in transit, access controls, logging, monitoring, vendor management, and incident-response processes.

No method of transmission or storage is completely secure. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your credentials and for securing your devices, networks, and self-hosted environments.

12. GDPR and Privacy Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, object to, or port your personal data, and to withdraw consent where consent is the basis for processing.

If you are in the EEA, UK, or Switzerland, you may also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority.

To exercise applicable privacy rights, contact JIT Labs at support@jit.dev. We may need to verify your identity before fulfilling a request.

13. Children's Privacy

The Services are not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children under the age required by applicable law to provide valid consent. If you believe a child has provided personal data to us unlawfully, please contact us so we can take appropriate action.

14. Third-Party Services and Customer Responsibilities

The Services may contain links to or integrations with third-party services. Those third parties have their own privacy practices, and this Policy does not govern them.

If you use jit to publish or host content that is accessible to others, you are responsible for providing any privacy notices, obtaining any consents, and complying with laws applicable to the content and data you collect through your own projects.

15. Self-Hosted and Open-Source Deployments

If you download, fork, install, or operate a self-hosted version of jit, JIT Labs does not control the infrastructure, logs, databases, integrations, or end-user data in that deployment unless we explicitly agree otherwise in writing.

Self-hosted operators are solely responsible for the privacy, security, and compliance posture of their deployments, including breach notifications, access controls, data retention, and international transfer compliance.

16. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Policy from time to time to reflect changes to the Services, law, or our practices. We will post the updated version on the applicable website and update the “Last updated” date. Material changes may be communicated through the Services or by other reasonable means.

17. Contact Information

If you have questions about this Policy or wish to exercise applicable privacy rights, please contact JIT Labs at support@jit.dev.
