Island Vehicles

The vehicles on Mariokart Island, including Gokarts, Bikes, and ATVs, are specially equipped with incredible abilities that allow them to interact with the island's unique terrain in exciting ways.

Universal Vehicle Capabilities +

Charged Leap

Press and hold the brake button while moving or stopped to build up power. Releasing the brake propels your vehicle high into the air, perfect for clearing obstacles or reaching higher ground. A longer charge results in a higher jump!

Zero Gravity Mode

Approach any vertical surface, whether on the ground or airborne, and your vehicle will automatically activate Anti-Gravity. This lets you drive on walls and ceilings, opening up new routes. Press the jump button to return to standard driving.

Rail Riding

Line up with designated rails and perform a jump to latch on. Your vehicle will automatically grind along the rail, increasing speed and building a powerful boost for when you dismount. Keep an eye out for these glowing tracks!

Drift Turbo

Execute a sharp turn while holding the drift button to slide. Maintain the drift briefly to build a mini-turbo boost. A small hop precedes the boost upon releasing the drift button. Essential for maintaining momentum through turns.

Aquatic Transformation

Simply drive into any body of water, and your vehicle will instantly transform into a boat, allowing for seamless travel across lakes, rivers, and coastal areas. Drive back onto land to revert to your standard vehicle.

Aerial Glide

Drive off a marked glide pad (often found at the end of ramps or high points) to transform into a small plane. You can then glide downwards, controlling your direction. You'll transform back into your vehicle upon landing.

Coin Shell: Travels along the track and leaves a trail of coins behind before exploding, leaving eight coins in a ring shape on the track.
Kamek: A crystal ball with Kamek's magic symbols on it that summons him, who then proceeds to summon many of a certain type of enemy ahead of all the racers in front of the player who used it, as well as turning them into that enemy temporarily.
Dash Food: Various food items obtained from the smiling bags that give the player a speed boost and may change the character's outfit.
Coin: Grants the player two extra coins and a small boost.
Coin Box: Temporarily places a ? Block above the player's head, which they can repeatedly hit, giving them coins while also scattering more coins behind them.
Green Shell: Travels in a straight line and knocks over a kart it hits.
Triple Green Shells: Three Green Shells that orbit the player's kart, protecting them from incoming attacks.
Red Shell: Homes in on the closest kart in front of the player and knocks it over.
Triple Red Shells: Three Red Shells that orbit the player's kart, protecting them from incoming attacks.
Spiny Shell: Targets the racer in first place, knocking over all other karts in its path.
Banana Peel: Protects the player from incoming items, and spins out other racers that hit it.
Triple Bananas: Three bananas that orbit the player's kart, protecting them from incoming attacks.
Mushroom: Provides the player's kart with a small speed boost.
Triple Mushrooms: Orbits the player's kart, providing them with three separate speed boosts.
Golden Mushroom: Provides the player's kart with continuous speed boosts for a short time.
Mega Mushroom: Increases the player's size, allowing them to flatten any player they hit.
Feather: Causes the player to spin and leap in the air, allowing them to reach high areas, avoid attacks, and even drive on walls.
Fire Flower: Allows the player to throw up to eight fireballs for a short time that cause other karts to spin out on impact.
Ice Flower: Allows the player to throw up to eight ice balls for a short time that cause other karts to temporarily lose control on impact.
Boomerang Flower: Can be thrown up to four times, hitting racers forward/backward and returns to its user before the final use.
Star: Provides the player invincibility from all terrain and items, and also giving a speed boost.
Super Horn: Emits a radial shockwave hitting racers, as well as destroying all obstacles, including the Spiny Shell.
Lightning: Causes all opponents in front of the player to drop their items, shrink, and drive slowly for a short time in addition to summoning a temporary storm.
Hammer: For a limited time, allows the player to throw multiple bursts of five hammers each, which travel in an arc and stick to the track, spinning out any player that comes into contact with them.
Blooper: Sprays ink on all racers ahead and reduces their visibility. The racers hit also lose some of their traction while sprayed.
Bob-omb: Explodes after a short time when thrown or dropped, knocking over any kart in its blast radius.
Bullet Bill: Transforms the player into a Bullet Bill, rocketing through the track with auto-pilot, and providing invincibility from all terrain and items.
Boo: Steals an item from a randomly selected racer in front of the player, while granting temporary invisibility, making the player invulnerable and able to pass through hazards.

Make a pit stop at Yoshi's Burger! This popular spot serves up delicious "Dash foods." These special treats not only provide a burst of speed but also magically update your character's outfit, adding a touch of flair to your racing attire.

Peach Medallions: These valuable medallions are hidden throughout the island. Collecting them is essential for advancing and unlocking new opportunities.
P Switches: Striking a P Switch often initiates a timed challenge where you must collect coins that appear nearby. Successfully completing these is a great way to hone your skills and "pro up".

Exciting Event Formats +

Mariokart Island hosts thrilling events for competitive racers:

Grand Prix: Participate in a series of four consecutive races. Racers can drive freely between tracks, adding an open-world element to the championship.
Knockout Tour: An intense elimination event where racers travel from one track to the next. After each race, the last-place competitor is eliminated until only one winner remains.
Balloon Battle: A classic battle mode where players use items to pop opponents' balloons. The last player with balloons left is the victor!
Coin Runners: Race around dedicated arenas to gather as many coins as possible within a time limit. The player with the highest coin count wins.
